
Generic Elimite cream is not to be taken by orally. It’s only to be used on the skin and hair. However, you may use an anthelmintic spray to disinfect fabrics.
While applying the cream, make sure that your skin is dry and clean. Apply a thin film of the cream on all parts of your body, from your neck down to the soles of your feet. Rub the cream in completely. Leave the medication on for 7 to 14 hours and then rinse it off totally. While applying the medicine on children, apply it on the forehead, temples and scalp also. Avoid applying the anthelmintic cream near the nose, eyes, genitals or mouth.
If after 14 days of usage the disease refuses to heal, consult with your doctor. He is likely to suggest a change in the medication.
While the medicine is not used for the treatment of head lice, its shampoo variant could be used for this purpose. The usage of the medicine would then vary according to the severity of the ailment.
Elimite, in the spray form, could be used for disinfecting non-washable objects like mattresses and pillows, furniture, stuffed toys, headphones or headbands, gloves, scarves and hats, carpets and seats inside a car, and the inside of a bike helmet. Stuffed pillows or toys that can’t be washed, must be sealed in airtight plastic bags for four weeks.

The drug should be stored away from heat and humidity, in a cool and dry place. It should be kept out of reach of children.
